Position Announcement: Division Administrator, NV Division of Museums and History

The Division of Museums and History (DM&H), a Division within the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Division Administrator. The mission of the Division is to preserve, share, and promote the understanding and celebration of Nevada’s natural and cultural heritage for the enrichment of all generations. This mission is achieved through upholding our vision as the most trusted stewards and engaging storytellers of Nevada’s heritage.

The Division Administrator is directly responsible for the day-to-day operations, personnel (approximately 77 FTE’s), budgets, and management of seven (7) state museums located throughout the state. These museums cover multiple disciplines including railroads, natural, cultural, and social history of Nevada and the Great Basin. In addition, the Administrator manages interface with a 12-member Governor-appointed advisory Board and related subcommittees. (The Board meets quarterly with several subcommittee meetings in the interval between full meetings.) Collaboration with Nevada’s other private and public museums is also a crucial part of the position’s core responsibilities. Volunteers play an important role in the Division with on average 450 volunteers contributing 50,000 hours of service annually. Managing the volunteer program is a critical responsibility.
