Position Announcement: Assistant Curator-Collections Manager (Thunderbird Lake Tahoe)
The assistant curator serves as the primary researcher and collections manager for the non-profit Thunderbird Lodge Preservation Society a.k.a. Thunderbird Lake Tahoe. Duties include protecting the collections and archives; performing restoration tasks; classifying, researching, documenting, and cataloguing artifacts; writing research papers, reports, and social media posts; maintain a blog; giving in-depth tours of the Thunderbird Lodge historic site to visitors, media, and researchers; creating exhibits; directing paid staff and volunteers in collections management activities; and performing a variety of administrative and collection support tasks.
Technologically proficient individual having excellent oral and written presentation skills. Museum or preservation experience in interpretive programs preferred. Must be physically-fit, able to climb ladders, walk a fair distance each day, and safely carry moderate loads. Non-smoker. Primary work location is Incline Village, Nevada with periodic travel required.
Year-round, full-time position with benefits. Starting salary range is $35,000 - $42,000/year depending on experience.
