The Historical Society of Dayton Valley is housed in the oldest Nevada schoolhouse still in its original location, built as a one room schoolhouse in 1865 on Shady Lane at Logan Alley. Today, it houses the Dayton Museum, established in the early 1990s by a group of dedicated volunteers. It contains memorabilia, quilts, and photographs from Dayton’s history, including pioneers, prospectors and miners, woodcutters, Native Americans, Chinese, Italians, ranching, railroading, the Sutro Tunnel and early Lyon County history.
